Vulnerabilities in WordPress, on your network, weak passwords, plugin and theme security holes. You might think WordPress is just a purely insecure platform. The truth is, any web platform is only as secure as you make it. Are you still using “admin” as your Administrator account? WordPress not up to date? However, insecure code is often hidden from plain sight. When it comes to security, WordPressSmith uses a simple process we like to call Detect and Protect. We detect vulnerabilities in a timely manner. We fix and protect your WordPress website against them in the future.
WordPress Websites are Vulnerable to Hacking
WordPress runs more than 60 million websites on the web today. It’s one of the most widely used platform for publishing content online. This simple fact makes it a likely target for hackers and spammers. There is always the risk of a malicious script injecting malware into your website. The worst of it is, most of the times, you don’t even realize that it’s happened. You can go about your day, while in the background a spammer has gained access to your website and is sending thousands of spam emails. Your server gets blacklisted and you start wondering why your important emails aren’t getting through any more.
WordPressSmith to the rescue
Most WordPress owners don’t even know they’re vulnerable. WordPressSmith works to fix common WordPress security holes and stop automated attacks. From simple fixes like removing the wp-version, turning off database error reporting and preventing listing of wp-content, wp-content/plugins, wp-content/themes and wp-content/uploads, to complete website scans for malware, malicious javascript and iframes or spam, WordPressSmith has you covered.
How do you do it?
How do you scan my website?
We use a combination of simple scans for common security holes and sucuri’s website scanning and detection.
How often do you scan my site?
Every day. No exceptions.
What happens if you find a security hole?
We fix it if it’s under our control. If not, we take appropriate steps to prevent it from affecting your site (this may be by temporarily disabling the plugin that causes the anomaly or alerting you to contact your hosting provider to request a fix).
What happens if my site has already be infected?
That’s what our backups are for. We will go back to the most recent stable unaffected backup and restore that.
